Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the Enterprise Services Planning (ESP) Executive Summit?

This event is for managers (all levels), executives and consultants to explore the Lean Kanban body of knowledge for better service delivery enterprise-wide. The scaling aspects of Enterprise Services Planning will be explored as well as these 6 ESP themes on multiple tracks:

  • Improving Customer Satisfaction with Kanban
  • Portfolio and Product Management
  • Planning: Scheduling, Sequencing & Dependencies
  • Risk Management
  • Cadences: Feedback loops and information flow
  • Metrics and Reporting

Who should attend?

The ESP Summit is for managers at all levels, executives and consultants. The orientation of the event is on systemic, enterprise-wide challenges. The discussions assume change initiatives mostly implemented top-down by management.

Why Enterprise Services Planning?

We believe Enterprise Services Planning is the future of how modern businesses should be managed.

We believe that a service-oriented approach provides an elegant solution to complexity and scale.

We believe all professional services, knowledge work and creative activities can be managed using the same principles and practices.

The ESP Executive Summit is an opportunity to explore what Enterprise Services Planning is, and how it can help your business, while identifying the challenges with complexity and scaling that you already face managing modern intangible, invisible work.

How is this event different from a typical Lean Kanban conference?

In addition to 3 keynote presentations, this event will consist of 12 roundtable discussion sessions. These sessions will start with short topic presentations (15 – 40 minutes) and then open into a facilitated discussion in which participants discuss their real organizational challenges. We will talk about how the Enterprise Services Planning approach can address these challenges in a new way. Every session will wrap up with a summary and gathering of action items. After the event, all participants will be invited to a private community of executive peers for ongoing discussion.

Who are the keynote speakers?

In London, there will be keynote presentations from David J Anderson, Julian Birkinshaw (author and Chairman of Strategy and Enterpreneurship at the London Business School) and the closing keynote will be Ivan Font and Peter Kerschbaumer, presenting their Enterprise Services Planning case study from eDreams.

San Diego keynote speakers are still being confirmed and will be announced soon.

I will be at London Lean Kanban Days in April….

Great! The ESP Executive Summit in London will be the day after London Lean Kanban Days, on 20 April. Pop on over and attend this 1 day event.

I will be at Lean Kanban North America 2016 and/or the Kanban Leadership Retreat in San Diego….

Great! The ESP Executive Summit in San Diego is sandwiched in between these 2 events. It does overlap with the LKNA16 workshops, although if you have an all-access 3-event pass, you can hop between the workshops and the ESP Executive Summit if you wish. It does NOT conflict with the Kanban Leadership Retreat which starts in the evening on May 18th, after the ESP Executive Summit is over.

Where is the ESP Executive Summit?

The UK event is in Camberwell, a district of South London, at the Ortus Learning and Events Centre. The venue is easily accessible by train (Denmark Hill station). See the event website for additional information.

The US event is at The Lodge at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, California, overlooking the Torrey Pines golf course, site of US Open Championships (yes, we can set you up with a tee time with advance notice).

Are there opportunities to network with other participants?

There will be a social reception in addition to breakfast, lunch, and many breaks. Plus, participants can continue the conversation after the event in a private community.

Is there a recommended hotel?

In London we recommend the Hilton Doubletree Victoria Hotel. We have a discounted rate code on the ESP Executive Summit website, while room availability lasts.

The US event offers special rates for rooms at The Lodge at Torrey Pines (very limited availability). We also have rooms reserved for the Kanban Leadership Retreat at nearby Estancia La Jolla Hotel and Spa and we can offer special rates if you want to add one or more nights to include your time at the ESP Executive Summit.
